10 Things You Might Want to Know Before Visiting Sip and Wonder in Alicante
If you’ve ever walked through Alicante’s Central Market and followed the smell of freshly baked sourdough and coffee beans roasting somewhere nearby, there’s a good chance it led you here.
We get a lot of lovely questions from people discovering Sip and Wonder for the first time, so here’s a little guide — part FAQ, part story — that answers them all in one place.
1. Where exactly are you?
Right in the heart of Alicante, a two-minute walk from the Central Market (Mercat Central d’Alacant). You’ll find us tucked between the local buzz and the slower rhythm of our street.
2. When are you open?
We open our doors from Thursday to Tuesday, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, and take a well-earned break on Wednesdays. Our kitchen closes at 3.30pm.
Our brunch and coffee menu runs all day — because good food doesn’t need a time slot.
3. Do you bake your own sourdough?
We do. Every loaf starts the day before — mixed, folded, rested, and baked fresh that morning.
Our sourdough and sourdough brioche are made in-house daily, and you’ll even spot them appearing on the menus of other cafés around Alicante.
It’s slow food, literally. And worth it.
4. What about the coffee?
Our specialty coffee is roasted by us. We keep things small-batch and personal, rotating beans from independent European roasters and farms we trust.
Whether you love a flat white, V60, or cold brew, we brew it with care and without fuss.
Coffee here isn’t a quick fix — it’s a craft.
5. Are there vegetarian or vegan options?
Definitely. Many of our dishes can be made vegetarian, and we always have oat and soy milk on hand.
Our menu changes slightly with the seasons, but you’ll always find favourites like avocado toast, Turkish eggs, or halloumi and honey on sourdough.
6. Can I take coffee or bread home?
Yes — and you should.
We sell our fresh sourdough loaves, house coffee beans, and sometimes even our favourite brewing gear.
Ask at the counter — our baristas love helping people find their perfect beans.
7. Do I need to book a table?
Not usually.
We’re a walk-in café, but if you’re coming with a group (six or more), it’s best to send us a quick message or call ahead.
Otherwise, just wander in — we’ll find you a table.
8. Do you serve wine or other drinks?
We do.
Alongside coffee, we pour a small selection of minimal-intervention wines from Spanish and European producers.
You’ll also find iced coffees, teas, and natural juices — because sometimes brunch deserves something a little different.
9. Is Sip and Wonder family-friendly?
Always.
We’ve got space for strollers, and have a high chair available for families who just want a relaxed spot to eat together.
Our team has built something we’re proud of — a place that feels open, calm, and a little like home.
10. Why do people love Sip and Wonder?
Maybe it’s the sourdough. Maybe it’s the coffee. Maybe it’s the mix of travellers, locals, and regulars who fill the room with warmth.
But if you read our Google reviews, one thing comes up again and again — people say everything feels thoughtful here.
And that’s exactly how we want it to feel.
“The best coffee I’ve had in Alicante — everything is made with care.”
We couldn’t ask for a better summary.
